Differences between Cellphone and Computer
The cellphone and computer versions of Rich Diamond are almost exactly the same. There are only a few differences, due to the limitations of mobile devices. Both versions of the game have the same set of objects and the same set of rules. Here are the differences:
- The cellphone uses top-down graphics, while the computer version uses 2 1/2 D perspective. By using top-down graphics, the images can be larger, so they are easier to see.
- Since the screen size of a mobile device is so small, the levels are limited to being about 10 x 10 squares in size. The computer version of the game can have levels up to 128 x 128 in size.
- The scoring for the cellphone game is based totally on the number of steps taken to solve the puzzle. For the computer version, the score is based on 'points' you accumulate. You get points for collecting gems, killing monsters, collecting keys and trampling grass. However, each step Rich takes costs 10 points. This difference means that some puzzles would be solved differently on a cellphone than on the computer.
- The computer version of the game comes with a build-in Level Editor, allowing you to build your own levels. You can also share these levels with friends.
